Transportation

The primary public transportation in Dubai is the metro. The Red Line takes you across the city, allowing you to visit many of Dubai’s top attractions. The metro is divided into three sections: Gold, Silver, and a Women’s & Children’s cabin, giving you flexibility in how you want to travel. A one-way ticket costs as little as 6 AED. You can even take the Red Line directly to DXB Airport.

Some key stations to consider when using the Red Line:

  • DMCC: The closest station to Dubai Marina and JBR. From here, you are also very close to the JLT area
  • Sobha Reality:  Another station near Dubai Marina and JLT
  • Mall of the Emirates: The station closest to the Mall of the Emirates, perfect for shopping. If you plan to visit the Burj Al Arab, taking a taxi from this station is convenient, as it is the closest to the hotel
  • Business Bay: A station near the Business Bay area in Downtown Dubai
  • Burj Khalifa /Dubai Mall: This station provides direct access to Dubai Mall, one of Dubai’s must-see attractions. The Burj Khalifa is located at this station and is accessible through the mall. You also have easy access to the Downtown area
  • Financial Centre: The ideal station for visiting Dubai’s financial district

From DMCC and Sobha Realty, you have direct access to the Orange Line, which takes you through the Marina and to the Al Sufouh area. If you want to visit Palm Jumeirah, take the Orange Line from either DMCC or Sobha Realty to the Palm Jumeirah station.

Be aware that the Red Line can be crowded during weekdays in rush-hour approximately from 15:00-19:00. If you are traveling for a longer duration, consider upgrading to a Gold ticket for more comfort. For a more detailed description of Dubai’s public transportation system, click on the following link
